India slided in the morning session badly as they lost Karthik and Ganguly cheaply, but then Laxman and Dhoni steadied the Indian ship from sinking with a 86 run stand. After Laxman departed it was Dhoni and the tail. England were firing all cylinders to the tail. One by one all left Dhoni but Sreesanth played sensibly in the final overs before Tea was taken. There were three obstacles in the path of England victory; Bad Light, Rain and Dhoni who stood his ground with a gritty half century. It rained so heavily that the officials were forced to call off play. Pietersen was declared the Man of the Match for his brilliant batting performance which helped the hosts to set a mammoth target. The Indian contingent at the Lord's are dancing in joy as the formal announcement have been made that the first Test have no result and have been declared drawn. There are a lot of smiling faces in the Indian dressing room but England knew that victory was round the corner.
