Vadodara: Indian coach Gary Kirsten, who is impressed with Delhi leg spinner Chetanya Nanda's showing, said his team got what they wanted after winning the Irani Cup by beating Delhi by 187 runs with more than one and a half days to spare on Saturday.
"Nanda was very impressive. He is not a very good spinner of the ball but has good control on the line and length. He bowled very well against seasoned rest of India batsmen," Kirsten told reporters after the prize distribution ceremony.
Speaking about the match, Kirsten said, he got what his team wanted out of this match.
"We got what we wanted in this match. Five day games are not just scoring big runs but also staying at the wicket for a long time. Our batsmen managed to spend time on the wicket and that is a good sign. It was a very good preparation for the series ahead," he said.
"Our bowlers too impressed with their performances and I am satisfied with the way things have gone here before the camp at Bangalore starts from September 29," he added.
When asked about former India coach, Greg Chappell, guiding the Aussie team during the forthcoming Test series, Kirsten said, he was not concerned about it.
