New Delhi: With Sourav Ganguly on his way to South Africa for the Test series, it is celebration time for his fans.

Even the otherwise serious-looking Left MPs broke out in smiles when they learnt that Ganguly has been recalled into the Test team.

Their smiles were justified as they have been the cheerleaders for Ganguly and as Greg Chappell's team fumbled and faltered, they wanted their hero back in the side.

The voices from the streets of Kolkata too were in support of Ganguly.

"Hum logon ko bahut khusi hai. Dada Test mein bahut acchha perform karenge (We are very happy. Dada will give a good performance in Test matches)," a fan said.

Another fans said: "I am very happy for Ganguly as he is back in the Test team. I will be truly happy if he is included in the One-Day team also."

With Ganguly on way to South Africa, nobody could be happier than the Left. Leaders like Brinda Karat did not mince words after Ganguly's inclusion in the Test team.

"Mission accomplished," she said.

And it was also a time for some right advice from the Left

"Tension mat karo aur acchha khelo. Jo sawaal ko le ker hum log itna bulandi se awaaz utha rahe the under, us sawaal ko kamyaab karo (Don't take tension and play well. Prove what all we have raised about you in Parliament)," CPI MP Gurudas Dasgupta said.

"He should not indulge in rosogullah's while playing," Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee added.

The left parties might insist that they cannot be accused of regionalism but when it comes to Bengal's pride - Sourav Ganguly - they cannot just resist taking sides.

No wonder then from Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharya to trade union leader Gurudas Dasgupta, everybody stepped out to bat for Ganguly.
