New Delhi: Kapil Dev, Chairman of the Indian Cricket League (ICL) announced on Sunday that the next edition of the ICL will be played in October at the Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex in Panchkula and the dates will be disclosed shortly.

India's World Cup winning captain said the ICL had more surprises in store this season but refused to give any further details on them.

Kapil said the ICL was keen to conduct the matches in Chandigarh if the administration accorded permission as the better sports facilities are available here in comparison to other states.

"If I were not born in Chandigarh and utilised the facilities here -- Sector 16 Cricket Stadium, I would not have played cricket to the highest level," said Kapil.

The ICL had requested the Chandigarh Administration for allowing it to host matches at the Sector 16 Stadium which had been turned down.
