why we want to play ourselves and end up in not growing the talent? Signing the players like pollock and Gilchrist will do world of good for the youngsters playing with him and aslo for the players who is playing against him can test his skill. There is every chance of retired players resting in india to play for IPL and also signing the contract with ranji team to earn more money in the opposite side our players will be be getting the exposure and will really pull the crowd. And i am really looking forward to book the low cost ticket to watch the world stars playing against my ranji team tamil nadu

I disagree with sandeep , look at how NFL and MLb are structured .We cannot be professional and forgiving at the same time . I would say this process would force survival of the fittest .Enough of having tail betweeen the legs and soft approach

@Azhar Please read below. The Sunil Gavaskar-led committee, which met at the Cricket Centre, decided to allow associations four ''guest'' players -- from outside the state -- in their side. "One of the four players could be a cricketer from overseas, who has played at least 10 Tests and/or 20 ODIs," BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah said in a statement. "However, a maximum of three ''Guest'' players will be permitted to figure in the playing XI at a given point of time. Four guest players but only one from overseas which means the other three can be from different states. I don''t find that as a problem although it might affect the local players undeserved players. But this will bring in more competitiveness.

@Vimalan: Many thanks for the clarification. But it was nice to know that we agree on the minimum common agenda i.e. survival of the fittest.

Don''t worry guys. Indian "Greats" do not get time for the domestic circuit, thanks to an all year round circus on national duty. It would be interesting to note as to which season of the year will BCCI be able to play "Quality" foriegn cricketers. It will be interesting to know if any Indian "Great" has helped draw huge crowds for a domestic match.

Hello Mr.M.V.MUTHU have you ever played any state level cricket in your life? Have you ever been to u-17 or u-19 or Ranji trophy selection? Just try to understand the feeling of that player, who feel like talented enough to deserve chance for his state team. Why BCCI wants add more frsutration among youngster? Money is not everything mr.pawar and his company!

Emotional dispatches, such as this, will take our sports, including cricket, no where. It is essential to be pertinent. Or else, at the next Olympics, probably, we might end up winning a couple of more medals and we will go to the roof top i.e. inside our cocoon and start singing and dancing and our hearts will be full.

this author is just venting out his frustrating because of poor treatment of his organization ( read ICL ) by BCCI rather than being a true cricket fan/administrator. Afterall only one foreign player is allowed per side. So why all the fuss. It will definitely improve the performance of our local cricketers. I totally disagree with you Sandeep. Don''t bring in your personal vendetta here.

Mr. Vimalan, if i heard and read correctly regarding this issue I guess 4 foreign players can be signed and 3 can be included in the playing eleven. If you know better let us know. And this move by BCCI has both its contra effects. It will surely create an environment, asking youngsters to work harder and that will surely help them to polish their skills before donning the national colors. I wish Indian cricket all the best.

I feel Sandeep is correct. Point is BCCI banned ICL because they feel they are trying to make money out of it, not for cricket development(Sharad Pawar statement). Even BCCI are doing the same. Why then ban ICL?

I disagree with author saying foreign player hurting domestic cricket. I see BCCI is following English County way and I did not see it had hurt them in anyway. I think this will improve our own cricket and our lads will get an opportunity to work with some of the best foreign players. This will also prepare them playing for our country in the future. I think this is a welcome move and this changes to Ranji and other domestic tournaments makes it more interesting and competititve.
