Vadodara: The players from both the teams that are participating in the five-day Irani Cup match here have requested the organisers to arrange for special Gujarati food everyday during their stay in the city.

"Both the teams are very fond of Gujarati food and want to freak out on it as long as they are here. In fact the very first day the teams landed here, (Rest of India and Indian Test skipper) Anil Kumble wanted to know which joint served the best Gujarati food in town," media manager Jatin Vakil told Cricketnext on Thursday.

"Rahul Dravid, RP Singh and our own Zaheer Khan, who played for Baroda before switching over to Mumbai a couple of years ago, are the other Rest players who love to taste different kinds of food when they are touring. Ishant Sharma is another who falls in this category," he added.

"In fact the players of both the teams, who enjoy vegetarian food, have ganged up together and are planning a big dinner party in one of their friend's house tonight. Almost the entire Rest team is likely to be there while some of the Delhi players have also agreed to accompany them," Vakil confirmed.

In fact, Kumble had said during the pre-match press conference that he and his teammates were enjoying the Gujarati food and the hospitality of the people over here.

However, Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, Munaf Patel and middle-order batsman Mohammad Kaif enjoy Punjabi food more while Delhi skipper Virender Sehwag relishes chicken more than any other delicacy.

Not many would know that India and Delhi opening batsman Gautam Gambhir is very conscious about his fitness and works out everyday at a near by gymnasium without fail along with his teammates, left-arm seamer Pradeep Sangwan and leg-spinner Chetanya Nanda.

Young Delhi batsman Shikhar Dhawan is a god fearing person and makes it a point to visit the nearby temples, especially the ISKON temple everyday.

Another common interest among the Delhi players is the latest Hindi films. Sehwag, Gambhir and Virat Kohli were some of the players who went to watch the late night show of the latest blockbuster Rock On in a nearby theatre despite security in and around the hotels being very tight.
