vikram All,

I find it hilarious to read all this.Yes agreed our bowlers did a good job, but what allowed them to do a good job? If Dhoni and Raina had not cracked the mendis mystery(which our Fab4 failed to do) our bolwers could have done nothing. The Pitch was helpful to the bowlers as yuvi was also devastating on that pitch.
Zaheer & co need to get a pat on their back for the way they bowled but Dhoni & Raina set it up for them, It is ample proof that Dhoni was the MOS and not any bowler. On Bowler friendly pitches batsman win you matches and vice versa.Hope all of you will now agree.. Mohammad Kamran Surely agree with writer we never give bowlers thier due credit it is bowlers who win matches not batsman specially in test match tell me how many test india won while chasing they won more when they bat first so we shld give ful credit to bowlers and indian bowling line is looking good with the likes of Zak,Ishant,Munaf,Irfan,R.P.,Praveen.And I Hope sreesanth never come in indian side as he is most overhyped cricketer in world.Best Of luck to team india ( Posted: Thursday , September 11, 2008 at 21:36 )
Satish Guess the obsession with bowlers stems from the the innane human quality of beign drawn towards glamorous things.Bowlers were always typecast in the ''sons of the soil'' mould.Spitting on the ball and scrathing ur groin isnt really glamorous, is it?.Batsmen always had protective gear and gives the impression of beign victimised what with 11 players all around him baying for his wicket. So whenever a batsman scores it is always made out to be the triumph of good over evil. Vengsarkar saying this or not dosent matter, bowlers always had a raw deal right from the inception of cricket, and more so in India where the general perception is that the batsmen are city bred and more sophisticated and the bowlers are rural based who toil hard in the sun with not eough time to polish their manners. Is that why Yuvi gets a crore of rupees for facing six balls(ofcourse hiitng them for sixes) and Joginder gets 20 laks for bowling the final over in a final. N Joshi Veera!! Totally Agree with you. I know you would be reluctant to go open but lets just say "Behind whom the advertising dollars are being spent the most". Surely not behind Munaf or Praveen or even Zaheer. ( Posted: Tuesday , September 02, 2008 at 19:18 )
Omer Khan I agree ( Posted: Tuesday , September 02, 2008 at 09:51 )
kedar i completely agree with the writer here. no doubt 2-3 batsmen did well and that too only in 3rd and 4th games.why is that we overlook those miserable performances in the 2nd and last ODI''s. We struggled in the 2nd game after the islanders were reduced to a low score of just 142. The 5th ODI was even more appalling after the ‘great Indian middle order collapse’ despite a good start.
The bowlers did a superb job of reducing Srilankans to such low scores and in the end , it’s the batsmen who are so heavily praised just because of a few individual displays of heavy mettle. It wouldn’t be ridiculous to suggest that bowlers’ thankless jobs will do nothing to boost their morale and might only demoralize them. I think the Indian junta and more importantly the media must give the bowlers their due credit like how they were given during the Australian tour, esp the Adelaide test.

bimlesh veera you have always hated the youngsters..why should you even have a right to rejoice when the young team has won..go and sulk and cry for getting the seniors their due..what say sir? Crybabies like you always try to create un-necessary controversies..rather than celebrating the win, you are finding fault as to who should have said what and wasted so much of space on cricketnext.com ( Posted: Monday , September 01, 2008 at 19:44 )
